Google Ads in Claude: what it can do

Short answer

Claude can run Google Ads once a connector gives it access to your account. With the official LoomaScale connector, it reads live spend, search terms and conversions, and it can add negative keywords, build paused campaigns or move budget within the daily spend cap you set.

On its own, Claude only sees the files you upload, so its view of Google Ads is a snapshot from the moment you exported it. Connected, it works from your account's live numbers: it finds wasted spend, explains what changed, builds campaigns and moves budgets — inside the daily spend cap you set.

To set it up, follow the step-by-step guide to connect Claude to Google Ads, with a screenshot of every screen.

Watch it happen, start to finish

Ninety seconds, start to finish: finding LoomaScale in Claude's connector directory, connecting it, signing in to Google Ads, and asking Claude a first question about a live account.

What are the ways to connect Google Ads to Claude?

Four that people actually use. Two of them let Claude change the account; the other two only put numbers in front of it.

MethodLive dataCan make changesSetup
Directory connector (LoomaScale)Yes, read on demandYes, within your capAbout 60 seconds
Self-hosted MCP serverYes, read on demandYes, within the cap you configureDays, for developer token approval
Reporting connectorsYes, on a scheduleNo, read-only5 to 15 minutes

The easiest path is the LoomaScale connector in Claude's directory. Add it in Claude and sign in: your LoomaScale account is created automatically along the way, then you're prompted to connect your Google Ads account. After that, everything is ready.

What can you ask Claude once Google Ads is connected?

Anything you would open the Google Ads interface for. And because Claude can build artifacts, the answer can come back as a table or a chart instead of a paragraph.

Audit the last 30 days: which campaigns spent money without a single conversion?

Make an artifact: a table of search terms with clicks but no conversions, sorted by cost.

Chart daily spend against conversions for the last eight weeks and mark where they diverge.

Add the five most expensive of those terms as negative keywords on their campaigns.

Draft a paused Performance Max campaign for my spring collection, with a $40 daily budget.

Write this week's results as a one-page summary I can paste into Slack.

More, grouped by the job they do, are in 15 Claude prompts for Google Ads; a full account review, step by step, is in how to audit Google Ads with Claude. Tip: keep your target cost per conversion and brand rules in a Claude project, so every chat about the account starts from them.

Can Claude change my campaigns without asking?

Not beyond the limits LoomaScale's server enforces. Claude asks before a connector tool runs unless you chose to always allow it, but the server rules hold either way. New campaigns and ad groups can only be created paused, and a campaign LoomaScale did not build cannot be activated through it at all. Anything that moves money — a budget, a bid, an activation — is checked against the daily spend cap on your account and refused above it, never quietly lowered to fit. Set the cap to what you are willing to spend. LoomaScale never sees your Google password: access runs through Google's own sign-in, and you can revoke it from your Google account at any time.

Limits, supported platforms and how the guardrails work in detail are in the LoomaScale documentation. Using ChatGPT instead? Google Ads in ChatGPT covers the same connection there.

Questions people ask

Is there an official Claude integration for Google Ads?

Google does not publish one. Claude reaches Google Ads through a connector, and the connector decides what Claude may do: most are read-only reporting bridges, while an MCP server with write access can also make changes. LoomaScale is the second kind, and it is listed in Claude's connector directory.

Can Claude read my Google Ads account without a connector?

No. Claude cannot sign in to Google Ads on its own. Without a connector it can only analyze files you upload, which are a snapshot from the moment you exported them.

What is the difference between a Claude connector and a reporting connector?

A reporting connector copies Google Ads data out on a schedule, so Claude can only describe what it was sent. An MCP connector such as LoomaScale lets Claude call Google Ads on demand: it reads the current numbers and, within your spend cap, makes the change it recommends.

Can I use it inside a Claude project?

Yes. A connected connector is available in project chats too, so the project's instructions and files — your targets, your brand rules — sit next to live account data in every conversation.

Why ask Claude instead of opening the Google Ads interface?

Because most real questions span several screens. Claude pulls campaigns, search terms and conversions into one answer, explains it in plain language, and can hand it back as an artifact — a table or chart you can share without taking screenshots.

Can I run the server myself instead?

Yes. google-ads-mcp is the open-source server behind the same tools, MIT-licensed. You host it, register your own Google OAuth client and apply for a Google Ads developer token, which takes days to approve.
